  • No, an internal will only be done with your informed consent. There is a lot we can do without this and can always perform one at a later stage, or not at all.

  • We can go ahead, as long as you are comfortable or go ahead at your next appointment. Still attend! There is a lot we can do externally.

  • Congratulations! Around 20 weeks is a great time to get a pre-birth assessment of your pelvic floor. Anytime during pregnancy is fine, internal exams are however avoided during the first trimester.

  • You may attend from 2 weeks post birth/surgery onwards. Internal exams will not be performed until at least 6 weeks post birth/surgery.

  • Not necessarily - movement is so important and a key component of rehab! Sometimes all that is needed is a tweak to technique, sometimes a short break while you strengthen can help.

  • Everyone’s journey is different. Muscle strengthening takes a good 12 weeks, so does changing habits that have been present for a lifetime. Appointments will be spread out over this time with a focus on self-management.

  • Yes! However most men prefer to see male physios, please find some here.
